Monika Jones, Project Lead for this meeting and CEO of The Brain Recovery Project: Childhood Epilepsy Surgery Foundation, welcomes the stakeholder participants and explains the purpose of the meeting: 1) aligning on our understanding of the functional impacts or large resective and disconnective epilepsy surgeries; 2) identifying gaps in research; and,
3) setting priorities for future research.
The meeting convened various stakeholders including patients, caregivers, clinicians, and researchers in an effort to meaningfully involved all stakeholders throughout the entire research process. Ms. Jones also shares preliminary results on functional outcomes from the Global Pediatric Epilepsy Surgery Registry, common themes discussed by The Brain Recovery Project’s community advisory council, as well as patient-reported trends and themes from various social media groups.
