#StopSUDEP Toolkit

A guide for parents and caregivers of children with drug-resistant seizures

When seizures don’t respond to medication, the risk of sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP) is higher. Epilepsy surgery can reduce that risk by about two-thirds — making the chances of dying from SUDEP three times smaller. We know that when seizures continue, it can be exhausting to keep trying new medications while wondering what else may be possible. You deserve clear answers, an individualized safety plan, and access to every appropriate treatment option for your child – including surgery.

To help #StopSUDEP, we encourage you to ask for a surgical evaluation.
