Description:

Students after epilepsy surgery may have health conditions or physical disabilities requiring them to consider what support and accommodations they will need when transitioning to college. The laws that govern accommodations change from high school to college, as does the role of the student and guardian.

This presentation covers:
• The applicable laws that impact academic, residential, and programmatic aspects of college life.
• How college has changed, and the variety of college programs, support programs, and in-house assistance colleges may provide.
• Common accommodations for students with physical disabilities and health conditions.
• Preparing students for college

How can you get the support you need for housing, dining, transportation, academics, and more? Our speaker, Annie Tulkin, will help you understand what to expect, what to ask in advance, the student’s role, and the role of the disability support office on the college campus.
