Dr. Marlene Behrmann is a Professor of Psychology at Carnegie Mellon University, whose research specializes in the cognitive basis of visual perception, with a specific focus on object recognition. Dr. Behrmann is widely considered to be a trailblazer and a worldwide leader in the field of visual cognition.

Dr. Lawrence completed her undergraduate education at Texas A&M University, and medical school and Ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. She started a private practice in Ophthalmology in Salina, Kansas in 1986.

In response to a great need in the community she began a free program for Functional Vision Assessment and Intervention for infants and toddlers with “different abilities” in conjunction with the Infant Childhood Development at Salina Regional Heath Center. This program has outreached to children in other communities, as well as the local school systems. Their finding, documenting the high rate of ocular pathology in children with disabilities, have been presented at the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Academy for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine to advocate for early eye care and intervention.

Dr. Schwartz is a pediatric opthalmologist at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and professor of opthalmologist at the University of Cincinnati school of medicine. She is the author of several research papers which address managing vision impairments in children, including a chapter on hydrocephalus in the textbook “Challenging Cases in Opthalmology”.
