My child underwent a right TPO resection at age 6 after two years of drug-resistant focal epilepsy at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Singapore. She had extensive gliosis and a large cystic lesion which developed after previous neurosurgery at age 3 months. As a medical doctor, the decision was clear but it was very stressful for us in the immediate post surgical phase when she developed various complications. My daughter is doing well now.
In the lead up to surgery, everyone is focused on the child, and no one is supporting the parent on the journey. I hope to be able to support parents by answering any questions caregivers might have and by sharing how I coped during the process.
I am familiar with surgical centers in Bangkok, Hong Kong, China, Jakarta, and can speak to issues with traveling internationally for surgery.
